The ROUTE starts from Lake Varese at 8 o'clock in the morning of Saturday 7 March and runs counterclockwise (back to Lake Varese) with the lake behind it. The route begins with a steady ascent up the mountain, offering countless opportunities to enjoy spectacular panoramic views. Highlights include Sacro Monte with its charming hamlet and the picturesque Via Sacra, the village of Rasa, the peaks of Monte Chiuserella and Martica, the picturesque hamlet of Ganna, the characteristic Borgo del Brinzio, a challenging ascent along the Valico delle Pizzelle, a section of the very steep steps of the old funicular railway, the enchanting Monte Tre Croci, a ride up the famous “Scala del Cielo” (Stairway to Heaven), a short visit to the astronomical observatory, the scenic Punta di Mezzo, the road leading to the impressive Forte di Orino and, finally, a vertiginous descent to the shores of Lake Varese, with arrival on the lakeside in time for the #hird
In short, the route is an immersive experience where participants will find it hard not to stop and admire the breathtaking views. We wanted to make this edition of the route even more technical than previous ones, offering challenges and breathtaking scenery that will leave a strong impression on participants.
