EOLO CAMPO DEI FIORI SKYTRAIL 2020

Sunday 27 September 2020
C.S.A. National Trail Running Championships Short Distance
Brinzio - Comerio

If there is one feeling that animates us, it is certainly that of perseverance. A strength that drives all Trail Runners to overcome the toughest climbs and launch themselves at breakneck speed down the most extreme descents.

With this energy we found a A truly adrenalin-fuelled course in the Campo dei Fiori Park that will award the C.S.A. National Trail Running Champion Title in short distance. A Sky Trail for real enthusiasts.

A race to time trial open to 400 entrants of all kinds and nationalities already in possession of a competitive certificate. The track of 16 km and 900 m positive height difference will be a concentration of power and agility that will put everyone to the test.

You will climb the north face of the Campo dei Fiori with breathtaking vertical slopes, passing the Pizzelle, until you reach the most extreme point of the climb, the Punta di Mezzo. But you will not stop even in front of that breathtaking panorama, because you will continue to run non-stop until you reach the Forte di Orino, and then descend at full speed down the southern slope. The final destination of a race in constant battle against time will be the beautiful Villa Tatti di Comerio. For the return to Brinzio, athletes will find a free shuttle service offered by the organisation in collaboration with Autolinee Varesine.

In addition to the Title of C.S.A.In. National Trail Running Champion short distance will be awarded by the partner Vibram, the Gripzone #Vibram special prize to the woman and man who reach the Punta di Mezzo in the shortest time.

The athletes will not start on the grid, but will make a “French” start to comply with anti-Covid regulations. They will therefore be free to start the race whenever they wish between 8 and 10 am on Sunday 27 September. The times will be recorded thanks to their passage on special mats placed on the Brinzio starting line, at the Punta di Mezzo intermediate time and finally, on the final finish line in Comerio.

“Maximum caution” remains the motto of this new Sky Trail. There will be no traditional Pasta Party at the end of the race, and to ensure the distance is maintained, the organisation has devised “Light Refreshments” in accordance with current protocols, capable of safely providing runners with water and food.

We also care about eco-sustainability and care for the environment, as demonstrated in all the events organised so far by ASD Campo dei Fiori Outdoor. Each athlete registered for the Sky Trail, during the bib delivery, will therefore receive a compressible silicon cup that they can use in the Refreshment Stations to quench their thirst without producing unnecessary disposable waste.

The fifth edition of the EOLO Campo dei Fiori Trail classic, a fixed stop for Varese's outdoor sports, unfortunately remains suspended until 2021. An incredible race, which sees almost 2000 Trail Runners scouring the trails of our Pre-Alps and 500 children competing in three amateur races. But the aim of the organisation remains that of spending a day in joy, with hugs, laughter and final sprints elbow to elbow, and for the safety of everyone, including the more than 400 volunteers, medical personnel and civil protection, we have decided to postpone everything to 2021. But we already anticipate that the next Campo dei Fiori Trail will see many new features, including the Brinzio-Comerio Sky Trail, which will be one of the official EOLO Campo dei Fiori Trail races.

To ensure the good quality of the trails, our CleanForesTeam volunteer group has been working for several weeks to clear the trails of branches and debris accumulated during the lockdown months. The installation of permanent signposting along all the race tracks, which we will do in collaboration with the Campo dei Fiori Park Authority, is also getting closer.

All that remains is to remind you that the opening of pre-registration for the Eolo Campo dei Fiori Sky Trail is scheduled for 8 August online at the event website WWW.CampodeiFioriTrail.it subject to availability of 400 places. Nothing will be paid until 7 September, when the race will be definitively confirmed, if anti-Covid conditions permit. Between 7 and 13 September you can formalise your registration by securing your bib number. While between 14 and 20 September, we will re-open registration in the event that any unassigned bibs remain. A choice made precisely to reduce the risk of reimbursement in the event of cancellation, because the protection of Trail Runners is always a priority for us.

Appointment set for Sunday, 27 September. Brinzio-Comerio one way! Don't dream it, Trail it!
